$772.00 worth of organic vegetables grown on 180 ft2!

Demonstration Plot 2/12 then 7/12
Demonstration plot 2/2012
Demo Plot 7/2012

Recently we compiled all of our harvesting records from our demonstration plot at the Sumner Community Garden.  The plot is roughly 180 ft2, and fits most of a “half share” of a Living City plant subsription.   Although we are still harvesting a variety of cool season crops from the plot,  to date we were able to harvest over $772.00 worth of organic vegetables from that small plot.  How did we grow so much food?  Our garden is well-planned, carefully maintained, and expertly tended.

Our 2013 course series beginning on February 9th can teach you how to have an abundant and successful garden.  We provide plants, seeds, mentorship, and hands-on learning. Download the  Livingcity registration packet 2013 to learn more about our program today!

Living City on KBOO!

Living City will be interviewed on KBOO Radio next week, Monday, Dec 17, from 10:15 am to 11 am Pacific Time.  Barbara Bernstein, host of Locus Focus, came to our July 2012 class and saw that our work is aligned with her mission of promoting food justice.

We’ll be talking about gardening year-round in Portland, nuts and
bolts of our program, and how our sustainable business model serves
our social justice mission. If you’re in the Portland area, tune your
radio to 90.7 FM. If you’re not here, I thought you might like to
know what we are up to; go to www.kboo.fm and click “Listen”. If you
miss it, we’ll post a link to the archived recording on the Living
City website.
